Ramadan 2020/1441: Ramadan Giving Day 20 – READ Foundation

Our Ramadan Giving series highlights the amazing work charities are doing and showcases their special Ramadan campaigns, giving us all the opportunity to support, donate and do a little good insh’Allah

Ramadan Giving Day 20: READ Foundation
READ Foundation was created in 1994 with the aim to use schooling as a means of which children from poor and underprivileged backgrounds could escape poverty. The charity is dedicated to providing school places for children whose families are unable to afford for them to have an education. They work not only on sponsorship of orphans and other children but also directly on the building of new schools, as well as the renovating of old schools in order to make their mission a reality.

Since its conception in Kashmir, READ Foundation has now established projects in Bangladesh, Lebanon, Syria, Afghanistan, Turkey, Syria, Gambia, Yemen and Pakistan. Parents and communities are included in establishing schools and centres, strengthening their impact. Basic needs such as safe water, clean latrines, food, health and psychosocial support are all included in the projects.

Their current campaigns include Covid-19 Emergency Appeal, Yemen Appeal, a Drop-in centre and night shelter for street children in Dhaka, Bangladesh and a programme to open schools in Pakistan.

"Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned." ~ Quran 2:245

Prophet ṣallallāhu 'alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: "The best of people are those that bring most benefit to the rest of mankind." (Daraqutni)
