Ramadan Journal 2013: Day 1 - Suhoor

Insh'Allah like last year I hope to participate in Neilouphar's Ramadan Journal Challenge for 2013.  The themes for the month are below:

The prompt for the first day is suhoor or dawn.  Bit too disorganised to take pictures, but the suhoor meal for my first fast was hardly the most graceful.  I seriously struggled to get up.  I usually have to keep making trips upstairs to wake hubby, but this year it was the other way round.  Alhamdulillah for my poor family's patience.

I remember fasting at my parents home as a teenager.  I have always been a morning person and so used to be bright and alert.  As each of my siblings traipsed down the stairs looking like zombies, I remember thinking, what's wrong with these people, why do they look so miserable?

Well this morning I struggled not to topple over and fall asleep during my breakfast, whilst hubby and my mum- and dad-in-law chatted away as if it was the middle of the afternoon.  I found myself thinking "why won't they be quiet!".  I realised I was being rather uncharitable and should be grateful for their good naturedness considering it was 2am.

Kooky Little Sister is also participating in the Ramadan journal challenge and funnily enough she is not a morning person, at all (seriously the battles my mum had getting her up for school).  You can read her first journal entry here.

P.S. - Sister Farhana at Sketched Soul is also organising an Eid Swap.  The deadline for this is tomorrow (Thursday 11th July 2013) if you are interested.  Looks like a lot of fun insh'Allah.

Bah, never mind. I have a sluggish brain right now. I found it.
