Ramadan Journal 2013: Day 4 – Currently Reading

My bedside table has a pile of books including Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, Susnet Oasis by Bahaa Taher, The Prince of Mist by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, The Long Song by Andrea Levy, Life Coaching for Muslims by Sayeda Habib and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.  I'm not reading any of them at the moment though and probably won't get a chance to look at them until after Ramadan.

One of the goals I set for this Ramadan was to complete one reading of the Quran.  For various reasons I have been struggling with this - I have  what feels like a massive workload at the moment with work, kids, a small baby, a busy household and endless rounds of cooking, laundry and cleaning.  At the same time I hurt my back last week so badly I could not sit for more than ten or fifteen minutes at a time.  This meant I was falling behind with my Quran reading.

Alhamdulillah, I am much better now and I am trying to keep up.  One other reason I am behind is that I am reading much more slowly.  This year I started studying Arabic grammar.  It has been a massive eye-opener to the miracle of the Quran and I am forever trying to understand words and phrases of what I am reading.  The course I am studying (details here) has deepened my desire to immerse myself in the Quran to search for its gems and to try and understand the book of Allah.  Insh'Allah I hope to make this my life-long endeavour .

I am behind in my studies at the moment due to life being quite hectic and I am desperately trying to find a space in the day where I can study each day.  I have an exam just after Ramadan which I need to pass to progress onto the next term.  Please, please make dua for me.
