Food, Glorious Food

We were invited to dinner tonight, so I thought I would make my hostess some cakes (being one of the few things I can make without burning or murdering with salt).

I used this recipe, but quadrupled all the ingredients. In the end I filled a tub for my friend who came around with some rice:



I sent a plate round to my neighbours (where the lady of the house happens to be one of the best cooks I have come across):

I filled my cake tin with plain cakes for my parents:


I dug out this basket and filled with decorated cakes for our hostess for the evening. I was a bit embarrassed when My kids ended up scoffing most of the cakes (there is no stopping Little Man when he sees food - his dad has threatened and cajoled to get him to stop asking for food when we go out, to no avail).


Oh, and the food was brilliant at our friends - steamed and shallow fried chicken with home-made chips, biryani, lamb curry, potato, cabbage and onion salad in dressing, soft naan bread and ice-cream for afters (the kids were in seventh heaven -when does their mum allow ice-cream in winter).

  4. Assalam-alaikam sis iMulsimah,
    I used rolled-out regalice suger-paste icing, which I just unfolded and cut shapes out of. It's cheap and there was tons left over which I sealed and stored for next time.
