A Moment to Wallow

Motherhood is a privilege, we are honoured and blessed to raise our children.
We are raising up the next generation, creating a legacy and changing the world.
Paradise lies beneath a mothers feet.
But there are days...like today, when after a full day of:
Refereeing
Disciplining
Cajoling
Pulling one apart from another
Cooking
Feeding
Cleaning dirty faces
Washing dirty hands
Strapping into high chairs and prams
Doing up laces
Explaining why not
Explaining why they have to
Praising
Rewarding
Shouting
Corralling
Shepherding (I know it sounds more like a farm than a home)
Listening to complaints, tales and excuses
Soothing
Reassuring
Hugging
Nursing
Picking up
Putting away
Putting to bed
Sending back to bed

It feels like nothing more than back-breaking, bone-wearying drudgery.

I know there are those that are suffering through so much
Who have so little
So many who would do anything to be in my place.

But right now, as the clock hands show midnight, I'm going to eat crisps, drink coke and wallow a little.  Tomorrow I will do myself the kindness of starting again, hopefully at a slightly less breakneck speed.

A certain little somebody woke up and tried to pilfer my crisps.
