Dua for Illness

I have so far managed to take the news of the spreading swine flue with minimal concern, but the news stories at the moment are a bit worrying. I’m not too fussed myself because I am young and fairly healthy Alhamdulillah. I worry though, about my mum as people with respiratory problems are at higher levels of risk and she has severe asthma. I also worry because my children are so young. The most likely to come into contact with this illness are me and my sisters because we work in such busy atmospheres and because some of us use public transport. There have already been cases at my office and at Long-Suffering Sister’s workplace.

Alhamsulillah, I am reassured by the knowledge that Allah tests who he wills and keeps safe who he chooses and nothing we do will make any difference to what he has decreed. In the last few days I have been getting sent an e-mail with the following dua which I hope will be of comfort and use to others as it has been to me:

The Dua of Rasoolullah (PBUH):

اَللّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُنُوْنِ وَالْجُذَامِ وَالْبَرَصِ وَسَيِّئِ الْأَسْقَامِ (رواه النسائي

'Allahumma inni aa-oothu bika minal junooni wal juthaami wal barasi wa say'y i-il asqaam.'

'O Allah I seek your refuge from insanity, mutilation, leprosy and from all serious illnesses .' (Nasai Shareef)

  3. Dear sister-in-islam,

    assalaamualaikum,

There is a site mentioned on your site called "askimam." I saw a few contents of it. One sample i have written down, pls have a look

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

    Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

    1) Hammad (Rahimahullah), who is the son of Imam Abu Hanifa (Rahimahullah), narrates that when his father saw Allah Ta’ala for the one hundredth time in his dream, he asked Allah Ta’ala what can save creation from His punishment on the Day of Qiyamah. Allah Ta’ala instructed to recite the following every morning and evening:

سبحان الابدي الابد . سبحان الواحد الاحد . سبحان الفرد الصمد . سبحان رافع السماء بغير عمد . سبحان من بسط الارض على ماء جمد . سبحان من خلق الخلق فا حصاهم عدد . سبحان من قسم الرزق و لم ينس احد . سبحان الذي لم يتخذ صاحبة و لا ولد . سبحان الذي لم يلد و لم يولد و لم يكن له كفوا احد

    (Muqaddamah Nurul-Idaah, P. 4, Qadeemi Kutub Khana)

And if u read from the meaning of the translation of the Holy Quran,
When Musa came to the place appointed by Us, and his Lord addressed him, he said, 'O Lord! Show Yourself to me so that I may look upon You.' Allah said, 'By no means can you see Me, but look at the mountain—if it abides in its place then you shall see Me.' When his Lord manifested His glory to the mountain, He made it like dust, and Musa fell in a swoon. When he recovered his senses, he said, 'Glory be to You. To You do I turn in repentance and I am the first to believe (Quran, 7:143)

So, you cant see Allah neither in your dreams nor in your physical form. Just wanted to inform you about the content of it (The great prophets couldnt themselves see Him).

    Thanks
    Your brother-in-islam
