Curious About You: Best Advice Ever?

I would love to get to know more about who reads this blog, connect with them and learn from them insh’Allah.  But I know people like to maintain their privacy, or they feel shy, or they don’t think they have anything worth saying (which is usually just not true).

So instead of pestering you with surveys or just going by my stats about readers, I want to pose a question every now and again and see what insight I get from people’s answers – I’ll start with my answer and look forward to hearing from readers insh’Allah.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Mine is:
I have never regretted my silence. As for my speech, I have regretted it over and over again. - Umar Ibn Al Khattab (RA)

Something I have come to live by and indeed I have never regretted an occasion I have decided to hold my tongue and often it has benefitted me.

What is the best naseehah/advice you have ever received and have you implemented it to your benefit?

Love the saying on silence. So totally true.I too have realised that in my life.

One advice that has stood out for me:

"To become a Slave of ALLAH is honour, to become a slave of anything else is humiliation."

May ALLAH make us TRUE, greatful, loving and loyal slaves to Him.. Our Perfect Master. Ameen

  2. Be content in every situation you face. God loves you and therefore there will be goodness for you in even the most painful situations.

  3. Asalamualaikum! From my other half
" you can say the exact same thing but in different ways you can say it nicely or you can say it harshly"

This advice has really made me think alot because i am a chatterbox and from my teens i have been very blunt and had no trouble saying it like it was even if it hurt people. But my husband has taught me that you can express feelings in a nicer way. And ive found that when you do it nicely your words have a much much much greater impact than if you are harsh angry or sarcastic.

Another very deep thing somebody told me i dont know if it counts as advice. She said how do you know if something bad that happens is a punishment from Allah or a trial? A trial brings you close to Allah and a punishment takes you further from Allah. So really its in our hands isn't it! Even the worst thing ever is actually a blessing if it increases ur iman/salah/dua/fast
