About me

Assalam-alaikam (Peace be with you),
I'm Umm Salihah, I am Muslim, I am mama to my five cheeky sweethearts (Little Lady 13, Little Man 11, Gorgeous 9, Darling 3 and Baby 1) and I work in local government trying to serve the community I was raised in.

I started blogging eight years ago because I did not know anyone else who was a working Muslim mother. People my age were not married with children at the time, Muslim mothers my age that had children did not work. I felt caught up in a unique situation with no one to share the journey with.  Being a working Muslim mama brought challenges, learning and growth that I wanted to share with the world and see if anyone else shared my experiences.

I was also very disheartened by the way Muslims were portrayed over the internet and couldn’t relate to these portrayals at all. I wanted to share that we were a family like any other with hopes, dreams and aspirations as well as challenges. Being Muslim just means we have this amazing guidance, Islam, to help us through life’s challenges in the most beautiful, loving and wise way.

My passions include writing articles and e-books, reading books, bargain-hunting, dawah (sharing Islam with others), crafts (cards, banners and jewellery), art, travel with my children, henna, being organised and the English countryside.

Thank you for taking the time to visit and read my blog, you are very welcome to leave a comment, in fact it would make my day.

Great blog. Old post. Keeping a spare curry frozen, good for tired days or unexpected guests. Naan from the shop. Ice cream or cookies. Sorted :)
