October 2010 Cards: Retro Colours

These cards have a retro feel because of the colours used - yellow, greens, pinks and lots of brown as well as the prints on some of them.
I was hoping to open my etsy shop this week in good time for Eid insh'Allah, so I am hoping to get some feedback from visitors regarding what could be better. In particular where there are visible flaws in the cards (being handmade sometimes you can't get away from this). My other main concern is pricing, because of the materials used and the time it takes to make one, I was planning to charge £3 ($4.73 approx currently) per card and £10 for packs of 4 ($15.77 at the moment). This seems to be okay compared to store-bought cards and handmade cards on the net. Your thought's would be welcome insh'Allah. I will be posting more pics of cards throughout this wee insh'Allah.

    1. Assalam-alaikam,
Most of the card stock used here is from the DCWV spring blossom glitter card stock which I don't see on their website any more.

The first, second and twelfth cards use card stock I ordered from etsy. I would love to get some more as this was a particularly love set of papers, but for the life of me, can't trace where/who they were from.

    2. Walaikumusalaam. Thankyou :) I love all the card stock you use as they have a texture to it, I usually only use plain decorative card. InshaAllah I'm sure you will find it.

  4. Salaam sis,
do you mean the blank card? The ones I use are usually Rymans 7x5 packs of 50 blank cards for plain white or ivory card or a brand called Anita's which also does sparkly ivory card blanks , but these cost a bit more (and are available at WHSmiths and most card shops).

  5. Assalam-alaikam,
No problem. If they are the ones I think you mean, I used remnants of Indian wedding invites to create these cards.

  6. Salaam,
    sorry for the late reply.
These were ones that had been given to me or family members. But some wedding invite websites will allow you to request samples. Mainly, I recycle wedding invites people give me.

You're very welcome to e-mail me with any other questions you have.
