I rushed home from work on Thursday grabbing shopping on the way and found myself straight in the kitchen. Usually I like to cook for guests on a weekend so I can take my time and enjoy watching things come together (also all the chopping, dicing and throwing things in the pot can be quite therapeutic if you have all the time in the world to do it) Being in a rush, I kept getting things wrong -I put the onions in the processor and half got chopped fine and the other half got cut into big slices, I dropped turmeric in the rice and turned it pale yellow by mistake and I poured too much yoghurt ino the chicken curry. Fortunately I got away with it because the food tasted okay.
I had planned to post the recipes for the pilau rice and the mint chutney but haven't any time now because of preparation for our Eid party, also my mum has threatened to beat me if I give away any more of her recipes, so I will have to wait a few days till she calms down.
lol...mum is protective over her recipes huh???
ReplyDeletefood looks delicious masha'allah...don't know how you manage to find therapy in chopping though!!

ReplyDeleteAssalam-alaikam,
ReplyDeleteSister Umm Zachariyah, it feels good to just switch your mind off and concentrate on one repetitive thing you are doing (I get very scatty and distracted because my mind is usually on overload)
Sis Ammena,
Cool, you're back in London soon, I'll let you take it in my place.
Sis Rainbow,
Who knows, no-one got back to me but no-one complained either which is usually enough of a relief for me.
Sister Umm Saaz,
Jazakh'Allah-khairun and I hope you are starting to feel better.
I agree with mum, stop sharing -if you are put it in the book and give 90% of profits to mum!!
